Canoparmelia caroliniana is an epiphytic lichen species that occurs in many subtropical and tropical areas in America and Africa. It can also be rarely found growing on rocks. The species occurs throughout most of South America, Central America, South-eastern United States, East Africa, and the Canary Islands, in 21 countries. Due to its large occurrence area and abundance in many countries, Ccaroliniana is not threatened by any factor that destabilizes its populations’ numbers. Therefore, the species is considered Least Concern based on the IUCN criteria.
