Clavulina kunmudlutsa is an ectomycorrhizal species that associates with Dicymbe corymbosa and occurs preferably in white-sand soils in Dicymbe-dominated forests. The species is known from three sites in Guyana and one occurrence in Colombia. It is expected that the species occurs in neighboring areas with similar habitats that are remote and under-sampled, such as Venezuela, northern Brazil, and Colombia. Ckunmudlutsa is considered Data Deficient, as there are not enough data to estimate or infer its potential distribution and population parameters and trends. However, it is expected that the species can be threatened by climate change, mining, and urban development. The species is known to play an important role in native people’s diet, and more research is needed in order to better understand its taxonomy, populations, and ecology.
