Blumenavia crucis-hellenicae is a saprotrophic fungi species that grows on rotting wood and litter. The species is considered conspicuous, as its color contrasts with the ground. So far, there are just seven records of the species within preserved Atlantic Forest fragments in Southeastern Brazil. Bcrucis-hellenicae is considered rare and is expected to be found throughout subtropical Araucaria forests. Logging, urban development, tourism, and climate change are among the main threats to the species. Therefore, considering these threats, Bcrucis-hellenicae is assessed as Vulnerable within the C2a(ii) IUCN criteria.
