Lycoperdon perlatum

Lycoperdon perlatum is a terrestrial saprotrophic species, found growing on soil of all kinds of woodlands, and it may occur in grasslands and meadows as well. It is considered a cosmopolitan species, with occurrences from the south, southern, north, and northern Brazil. L. perlatum is a popular edible species. As the species is not threatened, it is widely distributed and has a stable non-declining population, L. perlatum is considered Least Concern based on the IUCN criteria.
