Tropicoporus drechsleri
Tropicoporus drechsleri is a parasitic fungus species, possibly host-specific with Cordia americana. There are 18 occurrences for the species in eight localities in Argentina and Brazil. It is estimated that the species follows its host distribution, occurring in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, Argentinian and possibly Bolivia and Paraguay Chaco, and in the Montes Ribeños in Uruguay. The Atlantic Forest and the Chaco are considered conservation hotspots, due to the loss of coverage by intensive agriculture and human occupation. Furthermore, these domains are threatened by the impacts of climate change, such as the process of savanization. Due to the past and future threats that the species population in submitted, T. drechsleri is considered as Vulnerable, based on the IUCN criteria.
