Amanita viscidolutea is a solitary to subgregary species, found growing in sandy soils of shaded dune areas. The species possibly forms associations with Coccoloba spp. and Guapira spp. So far, there are just five records of the species. Its distribution is restricted to the coastal Atlantic forest of Brazil, occurring in northeastern and southern Brazil. Aviscidolutea is considered a rare species, as it has few records, being a conspicuous species and limited to a specific type of ambient and vegetation. The main threat to the species is habitat loss due to urban expansion in the Atlantic Coast restingas. The species is also threatened by invasive species such as Pinus elliottii and climate change impacts. Based on these threats, Aviscidolutea is considered Vulnerable by the IUCN A2c criterion.
