Agaricus globocystidiatus is a saprotrophic fungal species that is found growing in the soil, with a solitary to gregarious habit. So far the species occurs in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Mexico, with thirteen records, with nine of these in southern Brazil. As the species is conspicuous, has a large distribution, and is associated with disturbed urban areas, such as football fields and city gardens, A. globocystidiatus is considered Least Concern based on the IUCN criteria.
