Fomitiporia bambusarum

Fomitiporia bambusarum is a saprobic fungi species that is found growing on bamboo. It has an extensive distribution, with occurrences in southern and northern Brazil, northern Argentina, and Colombia. This species is potentially distributed throughout the Brazilian Amazon, where there’s the occurrence of bambusicolous species. F. bambusarum distribution can be in expansion, as some invasive bamboo species are spreading through native forests in some regions of South America. Based on its large distribution, F. bambusarum is assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN criteria.
