Wrightoporia porilacerata is a wood decomposer species that causes white rot. There are just three records for the species, all from the southern Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Two of them are from Atlantic Coast forests (Dense Ombrophilous Forest) and the other one from cloud forest/Mixed Ombrophilous Forest. It is estimated that the species is endemic to the southern region of the Atlantic Forest, being distributed from São Paulo state to Rio Grande do Sul state. The Atlantic Forest is considered a conservation hotspot and suffers from threats such as deforestation and human occupation. It is composed mainly of small forest fragments and secondary forests. Furthermore, the Atlantic Forest is also threatened by the impact of climate change. Considering the negative impacts of these threats in the population of Wporilacerata, the species is considered Vulnerable based on the IUCN criteria.
